Musings on Pentecost Season

We spend some time of our liturgical year in Pentecost, but what is this? Simple, it is the birth of the early church. It is the time when each of the followers of Christ go forward after his ascension and plant their own communities, a time when the church truly exists in diversity.

The interesting point is to realize that the speaking in tongues at Pentecost is not what we see it as today, rather Peter and his friends were speaking their language and all those in the marketplace heard their native tongue. Pentecost is the season when we celebrate the diversity of the church.
