As the journey of renewal continues, some things stick in one’s mind. Especially in the era of meme driven Facebook shares. For those who have made the decision to leave formalized church, or even contemplate going back, there is a deflective statement that is used en masse.
The meme notes it: if people’s actions can drive you out of community or inflict pain and as a result you leave, then your faith is not in the right place.
Now through the turbulent of life, and having been clergy, did the actions of people have me lose my faith?
It is a bold statement to finally admit, for you see in my understanding of the interconnected nature of reality, there is no way to separate Creation and Creator.
The question is if we are in community with one another, and connected through the Holy Mystery however you choose to understand that…then yes we need to be better, we need to be healthier, we need to come from a place of loving acceptance and decision to move forward together.
Can we live into a world where we create these communities to grow a new reality of inclusion?
Thank you to a small little community church on Saturday night that renewed my faith through their lived faith and authenticity and inspired this musing.
